Caring for Our Youth

The Milwaukee Christian Center offers a variety of programs, at four locations, for youth ages 7-19. Our programs provide youth with academic enrichment, social development skills, community involvement, and leadership activities in a safe environment, helping them become responsible members of the community.

Kids Place
Kids Place is an after school program offered at our main site, 2137 W. Greenfield Avenue, Monday through Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. for children ages 7 to 12. Children are provided with the opportunity to participate in activities in a safe environment. Activities include:
  • Open recreation
  • Homework help and tutoring
  • Cooking classes
  • Mentoring
  • Community service projects
  • Field trips
  • Health & wellness activities
  • Albertson's America's Second Harvest of Wisconsin Kids Cafe
  • Computer instruction
  • Youth leadership council
  • Cultural arts & environmental programming
  • An after-school food program for those who qualify

Youth Development Program
The Youth Development Program (YDP) is an after school program that provides services to youth, ages 10 to 19, at our satellite site-Koscuiszko Community Center, 2201 S. 7th St. YDP is a Safe & Sound site, whose goal is to offer youth activities and support during times when they are most likely to get involved in negative behavior. YDP is open Monday through Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Friday, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.


YDP offers the following activities:
  • Open gym
  • Homework help
  • Sports leagues
  • Field trips
  • Community service projects
  • Safe nights
  • Job training
  • Computer instruction
  • Youth leadership council
  • Cultural arts & environmental programming

Safe Place Sites
In collaboration with Milwaukee Public Schools, MCC offers two Safe Place before and after school programs located at Doerfler and Forest Home Avenue elementary schools. Students and neighborhood youth who participate in these programs take advantage of activities, such as homework help and recreational activities in a safe environment.
